NOTICE OF UPCOMING STREET RECONSTRUCTION AND RESURFACING PROJECTS IN AREA

to the  Property Owners in the Cherry Hill / Pebblebrook Districts

Please be advised that the street section of 44th Street between Weaver and Division Avenues will be closed for approximately five weeks to accommodate planned street improvements.  The improvements include the widening of the street to incorporate a left-turn lane for the Pathfinder Elementary driveway entrances and a right-turn lane for traffic turning into Pathfinder’s eastern drive.  All lanes within said section will receive a milling and resurfacing when completed.  The project is expected to start next Monday, July 25th and be completed the week of August 22nd before school starts.

Also please note the North Stone Road street milling and resurfacing will begin mid-next week but will be completed within a week to ten days weather permitting.  The City’s contractor working on Stone Road may be working in several sections at the same time throughout the project but will do his best to maintain two-way traffic on Stone Road during construction.  The City anticipates there will only be a few short “no-access” periods of time during the project, specifically during the final blacktop overlay.

We understand these projects may be an inconvenience to you during construction, but we will work with the contractor to minimize this as much as possible.  Keep in mind these projects have been deemed necessary and will be a great benefit to the community.

We would appreciate your cooperation and patience throughout this important project.  The City will forward additional logistical information as it becomes available during the project if necessary.  If you have any questions or concerns relative to the above information or the project in general, please contact the Fremont City Offices at 924-2101 between 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday.  You may also access the City’s voicemail system during non-business hours and leave a message.

Fremont Public Art Committee issues

"Call for Artists"

The Fremont Downtown Development Authority's Public Art Committee continually works to enrich the lives of the City’s residents and visitors through art.  Over the last 16 years, the town has seen 15 new public art pieces emerge, adding to that quality of life that we all enjoy here in Newaygo County.  The Committee's next public art project will be located in the south central greenspace area of Fremont's Veterans Memorial Park.  A "Call for Artists" has been issued for submission of proposals that are community/family friendly, touchable, and appreciated by multi-generations of community members.

Guidelines for the "Call for Artists" are available to all interested by clicking this link. The proposal guidelines also may be requested to be mailed by phoning the City of Fremont at 231.924.2101.  Deadlines for proposal submissions is Monday, August 1, 2022 by 5:00 p.m.  An artist may submit more than one design to be considered by the Downtown Development Authority Public Art Committee.
