Consumers Energy to Make Reliability Repairs, Interrupt Electric Service Early Sunday For Fremont Area Customers

FREMONT, Mich., Feb. 15, 2019 – To safely make electrical repairs and improve reliability, about 3,300 Fremont area customers will experience a 6-hour power interruption beginning early Sunday, Feb. 24.

Beginning approximately 12 a.m., 3,317 customers will be interrupted to make repairs to the 46,000-volt electrical distribution system that serves portions of the city of Fremont, Sheridan and Dayton townships in Newaygo County.

  • The work will improve reliability and reduce the chances of additional equipment damage during a future power outage.
  • Consumers Energy has mailed all customers postcards with the outage information and is working closely with several larger customers affected by the work.
  • The general area of affected customers is north to 8th Street, west to Dickinson Avenue, south to 72nd Street and east to Croswell Avenue.

WINTER PARKING RESTRICTIONS

Per Fremont City Code of Ordinances, Section 12-15: "No person shall park any motor vehicle upon any of the public streets and alleys within the corporate limits of the City between the hours of 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM at any time during the months commencing December 1 and ending on the next ensuing April."  This enables the City to plow all the streets of snow during the winter months.



 Refuse and recycling pickup will be delayed to the next day on the following holidays.

CRUSHED CONCRETE 

Effective  July 17, 2018, the City of Fremont will

no longer be SELLING CRUSHED CONCRETE
or
accepting concrete at our drop off location at 805 W Oak Street.
if you need to drop off concrete, you can do so at
Consumer's Concrete on M82 or at Gene Billingsley's on west main street past the new meijer location.

 COLUMBARIUM INSTALLed at MAPLE GROVE CEMETERY

The City recently installed a Columbarium along the south side of Maple Grove Cemetery.  It is constructed of grey marble framing with black marble front plates for each columbarium space that can be personalized with engraving.  There are 64 niches, 32 on each side facing north and south.
