Our Curbside Leaf Collection program
generally begins on the third Monday in October and
four weeks, weather permitting.
Pool Filling and Hydro Mulch
We provide access to
high volumes of City water for pool filling and hydro
Residents: $ 50.00
*Minimum fees shall be paid in advance.
After normal working hours (Monday – Friday,
7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) a charge of $55.00 for overhead
and administrative costs plus the cost of water must
be paid in advance.
All water shall be metered and only City personnel
will be allowed to operate hydrants and valves.
Contractors must furnish all fittings and hoses to
hook to the meter, which is a 2.5” national fire
thread that will be attached to our fire hydrant during
the filling for a city resident.
For your convenience, we offer weekly residential curbside recycling
collection through a contract with Cart-Right, LLC.
A Recycling Guide is provided to help you through the selection process, which has been recently been changed to "single-stream" recycling to make the process easier. We update the guide annually to keep up with this fast changing market.
The City of Fremont is also fortunate enough to have another recycling business in town called Recycling for Newaygo County. They are located 113 E. Cherry Street. Please check out their website by clicking on the link below.
For your convenience, we offer weekly curbside
residential refuse collection through our contract
with Allied Waste Services. In addition, Allied Waste collects
appliances, bulky items and yard
wastes based on a pay-to-throw sticker program.

Rules for Refuse Collection/Resource Recovery Service
Christmas Tree Chipping
We will pick up, chip and recycle
Christmas trees during the first two full weeks of
January. Trees must be
placed at the curb (not in the street) without
bags or wrapping.
We are pleased to offer our residents
a choice in how they prepare their refuse for pick-up:
carts or bag service. Please keep in mind that
the rollout carts have a neater appearance at the curb
and prevent most animals from scavenging in your
During the first two weeks of January and the first two weeks of July each year, the property owner of the collection address may elect to change service from a roll-out cart to mixed-refuse bags or vice-versa by notifying the City Offices. Changes are only allowed during this two-week period.
Our year-round weed ordinance states
that weeds and grass cannot be higher than nine inches.

In the event of violation, we will mail a five-day
notice letter to the violator. If the violation is
not addressed, the Public Works department will mow.
For a first offense, it will be turned over to the
Police department and charged a civil fine. Residents
will be invoiced the actual cost of clean-up plus 100%.
If not paid, these costs will become a lien against
the premises and will be added as a special assessment
to your property taxes.
Yard waste may be deposited at the Public
Works yard drop off site, located at 805 W. Oak Street,
24 hours/day, 7 days/week. Yard
wastes include miscellaneous waste material resulting
landscaping or maintaining the landscaping of a
home (grass, weeds, houseplants, garden wastes, etc.).
From April 1st to November 15th, yard waste may
be placed in a specially marked yard waste bag
on your regular refuse pick-up day.
