Coverage Area
Our 132 square mile coverage area includes the City of Fremont, all of Sheridan Township and parts of Dayton, Sherman, Garfield, Bridgeton and Ashland Townships. We also cover an additional 32 square miles in the Hesperia Fire district, providing extrication for automobile accident events.
Equipment
Our department has the benefit of 10 fire suppression and emergency vehicles. We recently purchased a 2003 Freightliner built by Alexis Fire Equipment. It has a 2,000-gallon water tank and a 1,000-gallon per minute pump. This size truck will help lower the Insurance Rating for everyone in the community.
Did you know?
It takes a significant amount of time it takes to get our trucks back in service after a call. Everything must be washed and inspected before we can leave the station. After a large call, this takes two hours to accomplish on average.

Training
Firefighters
After joining a department, the state mandates that every firefighter must complete 170 hours of class within two years, where they are taught the basics of firefighting. In addition, every Monday night we provide regular fire and rescue/medical training, conduct tours and perform station and truck maintenance.
Fremont First Responders
Fremont First Responders are medically trained from a First Responder, Basic Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) level through Paramedic status. While most of our calls are medically related, we also respond to car accidents and confined space incidents. To maintain our skills, we train at the Fire Department every month and engage in continuing education through Gerber Hospital. Every year we have new personnel taking classes and receiving their medical licenses, which supplies the Fremont First Responders with a broad base of knowledge and new innovative ideas.

Volunteer Firefighters
The Fremont Fire Department is a paid on-call department; we do not employ full-time firefighters. We hold business meetings two Mondays per month.
If you are interested in serving as a volunteer firefighter, download an application and stop by City Hall to turn it in. The applications are kept on file for one year or until the applicant is hired.
