Presentation: West Michigan Trails & Greenways Coalition (WMTGC)

Peter DeBoer, Executive Director of West Michigan Trails & Greenways Coalition, gave a presentation of WMTGC’ recent $6 Million fund drive for path and trail promotion and construction in West Michigan.  Mr. DeBoer expressed great interest in the Fremont Town & Country Path system and it’s connection to the already existing trail systems east and west of Fremont.

Their fund drive involved organizations like the Michigan Trails & Greenways Alliance and the West Michigan Strategic Alliance, with hopes to connect the existing major trails and extending to other remote trails like the Town & Country Path.

Todd Blake reported the City was awaiting final approval from the DNR to solicit bids for construction of Phase 2 of the Town & Country Path and noted they have been very particular maintaining control in the road right-of-way and private land-easement areas.

Barb Sheren noted NC Health Department will need a final report by the end of August, for expenses related to the $9,000 they secured for the Path.

Jeannie reported she will be staging a walk-through on the existing and proposed Path areas to identify placement of signs, benches and bike racks, funded by the Health Dept grant.
