FREMONT CITY COUNCIL
MINUTES – REGULAR MEETING
Monday, July 16, 2007 – 7:00 PM
Mayor James Rynberg called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM, gave the Invocation and led the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag.
Present at Roll Call: Mayor James Rynberg and Councilmembers Larry Breuker, Dick Conley, Jane Drake and James Breinling
Staff Present: City Manager Chris Yonker, Clerk/Finance Director Todd Blake, DPW Superintendent Brian Hettinger and Parks & Cemetery Supervisor Larry Brant
Public Present: Debbie Brant
Motion by Councilmember Breinling, seconded by Councilmember Breuker to approve the meeting agenda; motion approved.
Parks & Cemetery Supervisor Larry Brant was congratulated for his designation as the “Cemetery Sexton of the Year” by the Michigan Association of Municipal Cemeteries.
Motion by Councilmember Breuker, seconded by Councilmember Conley and carried, to approve the following Consent Action Items:
Motion by Councilmember Breinling, seconded by Councilmember Drake to approve the July 12, 2007 Accounts Payable Check Register Report totaling $267,099.99; motion approved.
Motion by Councilmember Conley, seconded by Councilmember Breuker to appoint Tom Schmidt to the Fremont Area District Library Board for his first term ending June 30, 2010; motion approved. Council requested Mr. Schmidt fill out a committee/board application for their review.
Reports & Comments
City Manager Yonker reported attending the first meeting of the Newaygo County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority (BRA) and noted he was elected Chair of the Board by the Authority members for its first year. The Committee addressed By-Laws and recommended their approval to the NC Board of Commissioners.
The City Manager also reminded Council of the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Fremont’s new Market Place Pavilion at 4:30 PM on Thursday, July 26th.
City Clerk Blake gave a presentation of pictures from his recent trip to Yahaba, Japan for the unveiling of their Friendship City Sculpture. He thanked Council for the opportunity to attend and noted Yahaba representatives were very kind and their hospitality was to be commended.
The Following Communications were transmitted for Council Information:
Closed Session: Annual Performance Review of City Manager
Mayor Rynberg requested Council postpone the Closed Session, to allow for further review of the Manager’s self-performance review. Council concurred.

Motion by Councilmember Breinling, seconded by Councilmember Conley to adjourn the meeting at 8:50 PM; motion approved.
