MINUTES – SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING  

FREMONT CITY COUNCIL  

Thursday, March 24, 2005 – 5:00 PM  

Mayor James Rynberg called the meeting to order at 5:00 PM, gave the invocation and led the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag.

Present at Roll Call: Mayor James Rynberg and Councilmembers Rob Mani, Jane Drake, James Breinling and Larry Breuker

Staff Present: City Manager Chris Yonker and City Clerk/Finance Director Todd Blake

Public Present: None

Approval of Meeting Agenda

Motion by Councilmember Drake, seconded by Councilmember Breinling to approve the meeting agenda; motion approved.

Presentation of Proposed Project for the Extension of the Town & Country Path: Phase 1b

City Clerk Blake reported the Fremont Area Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee held a Public Meeting on Monday, March 14, 2005 at 7 PM in the Fremont Council Chambers to consider submission of grant to the State of Michigan ’s Natural Resources Trust Fund for extension of the Town & Country Path.  The meeting was intended to provide an opportunity for residents of the City of Fremont and Dayton & Sheridan Townships to express their opinions, ask questions and discuss the aspects of the proposed Phase 1b recreational project.  

The City Clerk also reported the Committee motioned and approved to recommend the City of Fremont ’s submission of an application for grant matching funds to the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund for said project.  

Resolution R-05-07: Commitment to Undertake Proposed Town & Country Path Phase 1b Project and Provide Local Match

City Clerk Blake informed Council that the Resolution would commit the City to undertake the Town & Country Path Phase 1b project and provide the necessary local match if the grant were awarded by the DNR.  Sufficient funding for the local match is available in the City’s Capital Project Fund T&C Path Construction reserve cash account and the Fremont Area Community Foundation’s Town & Country Path Construction reserve account, combined totaling over $130,000.  

Motion by Councilmember Mani, seconded by Councilmember Breuker to approve Resolution R-05-07 authorizing submission of a grant application to the State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for possible funding from the MI Natural Resources Trust Fund (MNRTF); motion approved.
