Dan Slate, Chair of the High School Citizens Advisory Committee briefly discussed the Committee’s findings and recommendations made to the School Board, which entails possible closure of one or more public streets on the west side of the existing High School. The Committee recommends the High School be expanded on its current site and that the oldest most northern section of the existing structure be demolished.
Councilmember Drake suggested the District’s engineer work with the City’s engineer on landscape redesign of the High School property along M-82 (both Main Street & Sullivan Avenue.) The District’s project could possibly dovetail with the City’s Downtown Blueprint Project, whereas parking lot perimeter landscaping and building facade improvements are key items.

Mayor Rynberg and she will work on an alternative logistics for the Japanese guests. Councilmember Drake noted the guests will arrive October 28th and depart on the 31st. Society of History and Genealogy, Fremont Chamber of Commerce and Fremont Area District Library have joined together in partnership to host a cemetery walk Saturday, September 24th from 1-5 PM. A cemetery walk is a walk through history as you take a slow stroll through the cemetery learning from people stationed through out, about people and events that have shaped the history of Fremont.
